Spanning three generations, the PLA group is a path setter in the Indian Film
Industry. It has been associated with film entertainment for over 50 years. The
founder P. L. Anand was amongst the first exporters, distributors and overseas
exhibitors of Indian Films into the global markets. He began by acquiring,
exporting and opening new markets worldwide for Indian
Films
Today PLA group has been associated with every field of the Entertainment
Industry in India and abroad. Its experience extends to include acquisition,
distribution, production and exhibition of full-length feature films and
documentaries; production of television serials & music videos; dubbing and
retail sales of audio and video software (UAE); operating theatres in West
Indies and UAE; designing, building and operation of Multiplex Entertainment
Cinemas (UAE)
Its directors are Mr. Nirmal .P. Anand and Jayshree Anand-Makhija. In the Middle
East Mr. N. P. Anand has pioneered the concept of Multiplex Cinemas. His team
has constructed 14 Complexes with 39 theatres.
In India, PLA Productions has produced entertainment software. Films produced
include silver jubilee hits such as, Khatta Meetha and Chashme Buddoor. In the
90s, films like Jalwa, Hero Hiralal, Chatran , Doosra Kanoon and most recently
Chupke-se(2003) directed by Shona Urvashi, were heralded as trendsetters.
Produced on tight budgets, all these projects have always been commercial
successes.
Jayshree Anand-Makhija is the Managing Director of the PLA Group; which includes
P.L.A. Exports, P.L.A. Production and P.L.A. Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Today PLA Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. has 4 feature- film production projects in the
pipeline. PLA Exports continues the acquisition and export trade of films, very
successfully
PLA Entertainment has recently collaberated with Twism Design Productions to
produce innovative new media projects. Twism Design has been created by Shona
Urvashi, Kartikeyan Ramachandran and Raman Lamba. Digital mixed media
innovation, television commercials, promos, short films and visual art designed
for phone or internet broadcast, and print media are some of the work undertaken
at Twism Design. Through Twism Design Productions we are currently looking at
developing new avenues of content creation and distribution in India and
overseas
